June 2018 Newsletter

DC Music and Songwriting Camp (Upper Left), Rogue Serenade Rafting Trip (Upper Right and Bottom).

Banjos and Buckets,

Trains, planes, boats, escalators, and automobiles.

Enforcers of emptiness, hurtling vacuums, spaces for sitting still that this 26-year-old's gotta-move constitution can digest.

I'm writing once again from a train leaving the newly green Hudson, NY - red brick, brown water, and old stoplights that wiggle in the wind. It's been a while since I last wrote - I ran two Oregon rivers, saw Sir John Prine perform, toured California's lower half with Hans Bilger, and taught my first ever songwriting and music intensive camp for middle and high schoolers in Washington, DC.

If I had to boil and steam the month down to two tender beets, they'd be -

1. "Music: the people we hang out with when we want to be alone." -Elizabeth Godar

2. A world of only 14-year-old-boys would be a world of noise and gangle, dirty dishes, sticks, straws, unmitigated can-do, and songs, and songs, and songs.

Much exciting ado on the tour schedule (below) - I'm flying to Germany TONIGHT for the oh so romantic milestone first ever euro-tour.

Mit Liebe,

Herr Jenner

PS. Tom Robbins on Beets: "The beet is the most intense of vegetables...The beet is the ancient ancestor of the autumn moon, bearded, buried, all but fossilized; the dark green sails of the grounded moon-boat stitched with veins of primordial plasma; the kite string that once connected the moon to the Earth now a muddy whisker drilling desperately for rubies.")

Songwriting & Music Camp - Interested in bringing our camp to your city? Find 6-10 people who want to spend a week writing, listening, playing, and thinking about music and we'll make it happen. Last week in DC was truly incredible and inspiring. More on this to come...

Finding a reason to be extremely invested in a world cup team. We in the US were given the green light to support whoever we want this year (thanks for sucking US national team). I think I'll support Germany, Iceland, and all of Latin America. The Beautiful Game!

Phil Cook's Latest RecordPeople Are My Drug - A favourite artist, a brand new record, life is good, treat yourself.

Brian Koppelman on Creativity - Podcast interview by Joe Pug, really cool take on the creative process.

Michael Pollen on Psychedelics - The food dude has followed his curiosity to a new realm. This is a podcast interview by Tim Ferris, who donated $1,000,000 to research on Psychadelics after their conversation.
