August 2018: Brand New 64 Dodge Easing East
Brand New 64 Dodge - Greg Brown cover. Inspiration struck on a suburban street in Denver, CO. Shawn Barry on harmonium and videography.
Greetings,
A bird, the Bar-tailed Godwit, once flew from Alaska to New Zealand, 7,145 miles, in nine days. The Godwit stopped zero times for food and water. Bird brains?
Thank you OR, WA, BC, AK, and CO for singing along this month.

Want a one of a kind vinyl record featuring the song of your choice? On September 18th I have a very cool opportunity to record direct-to-vinyl with Leesta Vall Records in Brooklyn, NY. Basically, I play a song, it cuts straight to vinyl, and that super high fidelity vinyl becomes a one of a kind record. If you want to REQUEST A SONG OF YOUR CHOICE you can order ahead of time here. Each record includes one unique song and costs $25. ***If you want a song that's not on the list just let me know and I'll make it happen.
Making my way east for the fall. I'll be living in Hudson NY writing the new one and looking at some leaves. Tour dates TBA in NY, MA, PA, DC, and NC.
Much love,
Jenner

GOALS - Get Outside and Learn Something is an education and rafting non profit that pairs powerful poetic curriculum with wilderness river trips. It's hard to argue with the curious, polite, precocious, inspired group of youth that surrounds GOALS. No phones, nothing contrived, just belief in young people challenging their intellects and learning to run rivers. This year I've had the pleasure of befriending and working with Brett and Kristin, the GOALS founders, and I'm a believer.
The Traeger Grill. Uses wood pellets. That woody taste. No Charcoal. No lighter fluid. Simple, made in Portland. In the words of my Alaskan grilling coonosier friend Sam Skaags, "Respect the meat eat, get a Traeger." It tasted very good.
From the archives...I learned Edelweiss for a wedding, and then I remembered it was my Dad's birthday. Felt like a fitting farewell for the August newsletter.
PS.
"I'm not the best river guide in the world, but I've been at it awhile so I've gotten pretty good at easing through those situations in which seven people find themselves in a confined space with nothing to talk about. Admittedly, this is a skill with narrow utility and infrequent demand, but you must admit that when needed, it is a skill of the highest importance. You don't get stuck in an elevator all that often, but if you do, it's nice to be able to break the ice." -
