September 2018: High School Bands and Nashville Ceiling Fans
More Buffalos,
This newsletter is dedicated to that band; the one that was THE BAND, impossibly cool, at your high school.
And to the feeling I got sitting under a ceiling fan in Nashville, tuckered out, cool at last, watching Kristen Andreasen perform on the heals of 8 full days of band after band after band at Sisters Folk Festival in Oregon and Americanafest in Nashville. I was thinking about how in every little town (and certainly city) there's a group of scraggly 17-year-olds with big dreams, talking about graduating high school, packing their instruments into a van, trying on this big blue world. And how I was once that scraggly 17-year-old. Arguably still am. And how it gives me an overwhelming feeling of gratitude to live in a country where this story of music is still alive.
A good feeling,
Jenner

September Spotify playlist. Some songs stumbled upon at Sister's Folk Festival and Americanafest, and a few revisits.
Kristen Andreasen: "Simmon" - Saw her in Nashville. Such a great performer and writer. Check her out!
Sisters Folks Festival- Super duper awesome music festival in Sisters, OR. A listening festival that's about the songs, not the drugs. Bravo to Brad Tisdale who books SFF.
Good Child Music- Lawson White and Russell Howard are putting together a record label that cares about the artist and the community their artists are able to create. I got to hang out and showcase with GCM in Nashville, awesome folks. Check out Mary-Elaine Jenkins brand new release Hold Still.
AND...if you've made it this far. A glamour shot! From the wonderful Matt Andrews in Nashville, TN. Thanks to Good Child Music for sponsoring the shoot. Will be submitting this one to Vatican City's annual "He Walks Among Us Competition."
