March 2018: Listening to Seven Minute Songs
Hey guys,
Big news. We made a video! It's called, Lullaby. The inimitable Kendall Rockwas behind the camera, we were in the studio recording the thing, here it is! Feeling proud of this one. (Video above).
Thank you to the Cincinnati woman who came up to me after a show, told me a story, inspired a song. She told me of her Dad, an older man with Alzheimer's, who was writing a song for his deceased wife. He'd write each day only to wake up the next morning having forgotten what he'd written, start over again.
Thank YOU for being the type of people who listen to seven minute songs.
Pre-order Buffalo on Bandcamp this very moment and get early aces to the two singles - Lullaby and Dams are for Beavers.
I'm in the homeland gearing up to travel all over this place in support of the new album. New t-shirts, stickers, and CDs in tow. New band members! The self belief pendulum sways as I sit on the edge of the pool and await the canon ball. But there are moments like this (video below) from my concert with Mike Posner that help keep it on the positive sway. Mike is a bona fide pop star who came down to Futaleufú to learn to whitewater kayak. He's a really nice guy and we played a concert together on one of our last nights.
Can't wait to see you all along the way,
Jenner

Alaska and Virgin America. My two favourite airlines merged. It seems their business plan is “be nice to people.” Earth shattering. (Nod to ARTA Rafting Trips, same motto). It’s nice to be nice. And so far they are very musical instrument friendly.
"Just as I am" by Bill Withers. The album that features “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Grandma’s Hands,” and this line: “Fish was made for hookin', grits was made for cooking’, and eyes was made for looking’, so go on and do it do it do it, go on and do it do it do it, do it do it to it, but do it good.”
Taking your shoes off on airplanes. They swell up so high in the sky. Or wear loose shoes.
PS. From the John Prine Article:
“You didn’t become a father until you were 48. How did it change you?”
Prine: “It brought me right down to earth. I was a dreamer. I learned real fast I don’t know anything except songwriting. Since kids have innocence, they can cut through the bullshit. I asked my son Tommy to sing with me in Birmingham when he was five or six. He comes offstage, and I said, “How was that, Tommy? Did you like that?” He goes, “That’s not real. Baseball is real.”
Reminds me of the time I overheard this preschool conversation:
Kid 1: “Are unicorns real?”
Kid 2: “They’re not real. But they’re important."
