May 2019: What is Analysis? High Hats and Flowers?
"I mean, what are you doing in analysis? You're trying to take all this misunderstanding and loathing, and you're trying to turn it into love – which is the wonderful thing that happens when you're trying to make music out of the rough, hard, bad things. You're trying to turn it into love." – Bruce Springsteen
Music or any other medium, it is a worthy goal, and mission statement as I close my fifth 12+ hour day in a Brooklyn recording studio. It's 3am. I'm in the control room. The beautiful Lawson White is adding high hat clicks to "Buffalo." Mmmmmm
I hope the flowers or whatever equivalent you have in your corner of the world are smelling delicious. See you soon California.

Fox Recommends
White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo – "Why it's so hard for white people to talk about racism." It's really cool and rare to have a blind spot so eloquently pointed out. This book is important and foundation rocking, and I'm so grateful to Kevin Beals fo recommending it to me. To ever continuing learning!
John Pearse Guitar Strings. The whole thing about dreams in the last newsletter...another one came true! I'm officially a John Pearse ambassador. I've been playing JP strings since I heard the way Vince Semonson's Yamaha acoustic guitar sounded 10 years ago at Strawberry Music Festival. I use the light gauge phosphor bronze 600L set.
As Far As I Can See by Phil Cook. The new Phil Cook instrumental record. I put this one on on repeat. Phil is my favorite, a behemoth of a musician. I love the mood this record puts me in.
