April 2019: Tour Vehicle Trifecta and Two Nights at Lost Church

The last of April,
I believe in having lots of dreams – so I might increase the chance that some come true. For years I’ve dreamed of having a tour vehicle with the trifecta of: Safe to leave instruments in; Comfy to sleep in; and Nice on gas. I fixated the dream on the Ford Transit Connect, those beautiful small white cargo vans you see driving all over cities with plumbing ladders on top or the name of a brewery painted on the side. On the first of April, I found one on craigslist that had already been customized with a bed, a second solar powered battery, and wooden drawers. It was over my budget, but I sent the guy an email thinking I'd check it out for inspiration. He called me and said “I looked up your music online, can I get a CD?!” We chatted about the van dream and he dropped the price big time on the phone. What?! I bought the thing, drove it to my parents house in Bend, and my dad and I spent two days in the garage building an instrument rack with his dusty carpentry tools and shiny abilities. On April 4th I set out for CO for a two week tour and the indefinite road.
Many driving snack crumbs later, a concert full of under 14-year-olds in Evergreen singing every word to “Lullaby,” many pre-show Dr. Bronner's river dips, and I'm still driving, grinning, and dreaming.
For instance, dreaming of getting the side of my van painted in big letters that say “Jenny’s Septic Systems,” to keep out the bad guys...and of course selling out two nights at the Lost Church on May 20th and 21st in San Francisco!
Look out for the second half of the Turtle Solar Eclipse Tour in CA in May!
Much love,
Jenner

No Mood by Lampland. My good friend and bandmate of old, Tommy Bazarian, just put out a new record. In my humble opinion, Tommy is a master poet and creator of ear worm melodies. He's also a really good guy.
Sweatpants. When living in a van in CO in April. Climbing into cold jeans in the morning in your van with snow outside leaves room for improvement.
The Jet Boil. Boils water shockingly fast. Very light and small. Great for making coffee, pasta, oatmeal, soup, etc while backpacking or with the minimalist van setup.
My latest Trader Joe's favorites. Zoog Sauce – spicy zesty green spread that goes good on most anything. AND Garlic Spread & Dip – ridiculously tasty decadent dip to blast the taste buds. Thanks Abby and Ellie for the know how.
PS.
A notebook entry I found from last August:
Small Band Van
Can I get a small band van
With big band plans
But there’s the whole fossil fuel thing
And I already have a car
And I’m thinking of transitioning to bike touring
And I hate driving in the dark
But the Ford Transit Connect
Has no windows in the rear
So you can park and go for a hike
Without expensive instrument fear
And you can sleep in it too
So you don’t have to be a permanent guest
And the gas mileage is good
And you look pretty in a dress
Oh the Ford Transit connect has some worthy competitors
But they’re less cool shapes
And Ford was first so it's better
If I had a Transit Connect
I’m sure I could also expect
To be playing Red Rocks
And baking delicious breads
And expanding my Spanish vocabulary
And avoiding bad breath
Can I get a small band van
With big band plans
