March 2019: Dust off the Old Keyboard, Call it a Pen
A coon's age,
Since I last wrote. The western snowpack is abundant, it's sure to be a high water spring, I’m back stateside from 3 months of river guiding in Patagonia, and have fast enough internet to write newsletters again!
I just finished a book the only way I know how: months of 4-page-at-a-time toe dippings followed by a furious 200 page frenzy. And it’s over. East of Eden. The lump in the throat. The triumph! The sadness. The delicious thoughts. The staunch re-commitment to noticing the world. How to share such a feeling? To translate a momentary holiness into words? Hopeless? Maybe.
But it is in this state of throat lump that I dust off the old keyboard, call it a pen, borrow some big words, phone an old friend, write the first to-do-list in months, say ciao to Chile’s ripe plums, and with respect to this impending spring, rededicate myself, once again, to trying.
And for the bolts and nuts:
Want to hang out for 5 days on a beautiful wilderness river eating delicious food and SINGING? There are still spots left on my June 27th - July 2nd music and rafting trip on the Main Salmon River in Idaho. Details HERE!
I’m headed to NY, CO, OR, & CA this spring to play songs! Hopefully in front of you and your friends (details below and TBA). ***anyone in the Denver area able to host a house concert April 20/21?
2019 is shaping up to be the year of the recording studio. I just recorded a live "Greatest Hits Southern Hemisphere" campfire tunes album with Cookie Marenco in CA, and I'm on my way to begin recording a new record with producer, Lawson White, of Good Child Music in Brooklyn. Such things are costly! Help me stay afloat by becoming a subscriber on my Patreon Page.
Ooey gooey gooey gooey goo yeah,
Jenner

East of Eden. Just re-read this one. It's still full of just about everything.
Anderson .Paak tiny desk concert. A group of musicians having a lot of fun. Delicious grooves. Heard about this one for a while and finally had a chance to watch.
Don't worry be happy playlist. I would put on this playlist when guests had to depart from our Futaleufú basecamp. A worthy opponent for most any low mood.
Homemade peanut butter. The only ingredient in peanut butter is the peanut. And a little bit of salt if you want. Grind the peanuts in a food processor, add salt, wait (a while) until they become ooey and gooey and delicious.
PS.
“I guess this personal hide-and-seek is not unusual. And some people are ‘it’ all their lives–hopelessly ‘it.’” – John Steinbeck, East of Eden
